Tanjena - my latest birman

Welcome to my Birman website dedicated to my lovely cats. My name is Edwina Roberts, I live in Birmingham where I spend most of my time looking after and loving my beautiful cats and kittens.

I have been breeding birmans since 2000 with the aim to breed quality, not quantity. My kittens are raised indoors as part of the family where they can be loved and pampered with plenty of hugs and kisses.

Just in case you were wondering why the name 'Mitztrumi' I chose it for a few reasons. The name can be broken down into three sections.

  1. Mitz or Mitzy was the name of my first cat who died last year at the ripe old age of 26. I miss her dearly
  2. Tru or Truly is the name of my first female birman.
  3. Mi is short for Midas the name of my second birman.

Hence Mitztrumi Birmans.

I hope you enjoy looking at my beautiful cats. Please dont hesitate to contact me for any help or enquiries regarding my kittens.

The Legend of the Birman

Golden temple There is a lovley legend associated with the birman cat. It is said that in Burma the 'Khmers' worshipped a golden goddess, 'Tsun-Kyan-Kse', that had the most magnificant saphire blue eyes and was protected by the priests and one hundred yellow eyed white temple cats. It was thought that when the priests died they would be reincarnated into one of the cats.

On a dark night raiders from Siam entered the sacred temple of 'Tsun-Kyan-Kse'. The high priest 'Mun-Ha' was praying by the goddess when the raiders  first appeared and attacked.  Mun-Ha was left dying.  'Sinh', Mun-Ha's favourite temple cat came to his dying master and stood upon his head. When help arrived, Sinh was found gazing into the saphire eyes of the golden goddess. As the priest took his final breath Sinh's coat began to change taking on the golden glow of the goddess, the eyes turned a beautiful deep blue and the points changed to the colour of the burmese soil. The feet remained white which is said to be a sign of purity. After the remaining raiders had been chased off by the priests, the other temple cats reappeared. They had all changed into the new sacred colours and were circling a priest by the name of 'Lioa'. There new chosen high priest.
